East Central University is proud to announce the appointment of Scott Linn as the Chief Advancement Officer for the ECU Forward Capital Campaign, a bold initiative focused on transforming the future of the university and its students. Scott will work under the direction of ECU Foundation CEO, John Hargrave and Development Officer Gerald Williamson.
A distinguished leader in higher education and athletics, Linn brings with him over two decades of championship-caliber experience in coaching, mentorship, and academic excellence. His return to East Central marks a homecoming for the 1995 ECU alumnus, who earned his bachelor's degree in Mass Communications before completing a master’s in Human Resource Administration in 1997. Scott was inducted into the East Central University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023.
“We are thrilled to welcome Scott Linn back to East Central,” said ECU President Wendell Godwin. “His proven leadership, dedication to student success, and deep-rooted connection to our institution make him the ideal person to lead the ECU Forward Capital Campaign. Scott’s passion for ECU is evident, and we are confident he will inspire alumni and supporters to help move our university boldly into the future.”
Linn's career has been defined by excellence—on the court, in the classroom, and throughout the community. Over 25 years leading collegiate tennis programs, Linn compiled an impressive combined record of 700 wins, mentoring numerous All-Americans and champions on both sides. His programs earned 15 ITA All-Academic Team honors, 89 ITA Scholar-Athlete recognitions, and were celebrated with multiple ITA Regional and National Community Service Awards. At the time Linn accepted the position, his Women’s team ranked #1 in the Nation.
Now, Linn steps into a new leadership role aimed at expanding opportunity, innovation, and impact across the ECU community. As Chief Advancement Officer for the ECU Forward Capital Campaign, he will oversee major fundraising strategies, alumni engagement, and donor relations to support scholarships, facilities, academic programs, and more.
“I am incredibly honored to return to East Central University, a place that shaped me both personally and professionally,” said Linn. “ECU has always been close to my heart, and I’m excited to help lead this important initiative to ensure future generations of Tigers have access to the same transformative experiences that changed my life.”
Linn and his wife, Amy, are proud parents of three—Austin (A Junior Accounting Major at ECU), Sydney (Currently at MSU Texas and on the Softball team), and Alexis. The Linn family looks forward to reconnecting with the ECU community and building new bridges of support for the university’s continued success.
