East Central University’s Global Education Office, in conjunction with the Global Education Committee and Department of Family and Consumer Science, is planning to host a ‘Taste of Russia and Ukraine’ event on Nov. 13 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second floor of Faust Hall, Room 219, on the ECU campus.
The cost is $10 per person.
The event increases the awareness of cultures in question, promotes exchange with ECU partner universities in Kiev and Moscow, and raises money for study abroad scholarships.
Dr. Olena Bagumian, from Ukraine, will demonstrate how to cook popular Russian and Ukrainian dishes. Bagumian is a visiting instructor from the International Christian University in Kiev, Ukraine, and is here for the duration of the semester, teaching Russian language and other classes.
The ECU Russian club will have a Russia chocolate sale and Russian items will also be auctioned.
On the menu is Ukrainian borsch, Russian meat dumplings (pelmini), Charlotte cake and Russian tea.
