Celebrate the magic of the holiday season with a special performance of “The Nutcracker” by the Oklahoma City Ballet on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m., in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center on the campus of East Central University. This event is hosted by the Ada Arts Council in conjunction with East Central University as part of the 2012-13 ECU Fine Arts Series. Included in the cast are local student dancers from the Central Oklahoma Dance Center, instructed by Cara Crawford. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased online at tickets.ecok.edu; by calling 580-559-5751; at Gem Jewelers, located at 101 W. Main; or at the box office the night of the show. It is strongly recommended that tickets be purchased in advance. “We are so excited to bring ‘The Nutcracker’ to the Ada community again,” said Dr. Mark Hollingsworth, president of the Ada Arts Council Board of Directors. “This is the second time the Ada Arts Council has hosted the Oklahoma City Ballet’s performance of this show since the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center opened. Last time, there were two performances, but unfortunately, this year, there will only be one, so we encourage everyone to purchase their tickets as soon as possible because the show will sell out quickly.” This event is sponsored in part by the ECU Foundation, Inc., Oklahoma Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, the East Central Credit Union, Citizens Bank, Blue Moon Café, Bob’s BBQ, Valley View Regional Hospital, the ECU Bookstore, the Pepsi Cola Company and Orscheln Farm & Home Supply. Season sponsors for the Oklahoma City Ballet are the E.L & Thelma Gaylord Foundation, American Fidelity Foundation, Inasmuch Foundation, Kirkpatrick Family Fund, Chesapeake Energy, Devon Energy, Allied Arts, The Chickasaw Nation, Isola Bella and Bone & Joint Hospital.
