ADA, Okla. – The ever-popular, “Tigerpalooza: The Bron Warren Tournament of Bands” returns to East Central University on Saturday, Sept. 28. Performances begin at noon at Koi Ishto Stadium.
Tigerpalooza was organized in 2010 in memory of Bron Warren. Proceeds from the marching band contest fund scholarships for members of the Pride of Tigerland marching band. The event and scholarship’s namesake, Hugh Bronson “Bron” Warren III, was a 2007 ECU graduate and a talented multi-instrumentalist.
“This is a special event we hold every fall on campus,” said Dr. Nick Meyers, director of bands and associate professor of music. “This competition brings bands from across the state to compete all throughout the day. Unlike other contests in the state, bands performing are from schools sized Class 2A to 6A. This creates a fabulous all-around experience for the bands performing and the spectators in attendance.”
High schools competing this year include: Okeen Jr/Sr, Davis, Hugo, Kingston, Lone Grove, Ada, Chickasha, Durant, John Marshal, Elgin, Duncan, Norman and Charles Page.
ECU’s Pride of Tigerland will also perform.
General admission for the day is $10. Admission for children ages 7 to 12 will be $5, and all children under age 6 will be admitted free.
Programs will be $5 and Tigerpalooza t-shirts will be available.
