ADA, Okla. – The East Central University Stonecipher School of Business Scholar Leader Program continues their Women in Leadership conferences through the spring.
Allison Garrett, Chancellor of the Oklahoma State System for Higher Education, will be the presenting speaker on Monday, March, 25 at 1 p.m. in the Chickasaw Business & Conference Center, room 221.
This event is free and open to the public.
Garrett is the chief executive officer for the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education. She leads a state system comprised of 25 state colleges and universities, 11 constituent agencies, one university center and independent colleges and universities coordinated with the state system.
Prior to her role as Chancellor, Garrett served in senior leadership roles at universities in three states, including as president, executive vice president and senior vice president for academic affairs.
Accomplishments during her tenure in campus leadership include a record-breaking capital campaign; new building projects; record-setting increases in student retention and graduation; and development of new academic programs to address the needs of state and regional business and industry.
She has also served as vice chair of the NCAA Board of Governors and as chair of the NCAA Division II Presidents’ Council.
Garrett also worked for more than a decade at the Walmart Inc. corporate offices, holding the positions of vice president and general counsel for the corporate division and vice president of benefits compliance and planning. Upon graduation from law school, she went into private practice before taking a position with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Garrett and her husband live in Edmond, Oklahoma. They have three adult children and two grandchildren.
The final speaker will be Julie Scott, the Program Management Manager at Science Applications International Corporation on April 15 at 1 p.m.
