Fresh Check Day - October 9 (ECU Counseling Center)

Volunteers will be helping with different interactive booths that are centered around mental health with fun activities at each one. The booths are student-led. They will be explaining the activities to the students and sharing information for the booth they are assigned. There are explanations at each booth, and they just need to follow the script, if they aren't sure where to start. Also, they will have guidance from a staff member that is working at the booth.

Paw-ctober - October 25 (Backroad Bridge Dog Rescue)

The idea is to have different organizations set up booths with their own game for kids to play. The organization can pick the game and the prize the kids win (can be as simple as candy). The goal is to have fun! It’s a Halloween theme so costumes and such are encouraged.

The Haunted Railway - October 24 and 25 (Kiwanis Club of Greater Ada)

We are looking for a group of 15-30 people to dress up as zombies, ghosts, other scary things and stand around the train route and interact with riders. 

The event is no physical contact. Sunday (October 25) will be much more kid friendly.

October 24: 6PM-10PM

October 25: 4PM - 7PM

Centric Hospice

There is not one set day or time students must volunteer. We can work around class schedules and help students find an opportunity that fits their availability. Students can volunteer individually, and we can also coordinate opportunities for student organizations or groups.

Because we are a hospice organization, students who will be volunteering directly with patients will complete the appropriate onboarding and training before beginning.

  • Patient companionship: Visiting with patients, reading, playing games, doing puzzles, watching TV, or simply providing conversation and companionship.
  • Facility activities: Helping with activities and special events at nursing and assisted-living facilities, such as bingo, crafts, holiday events, games, and other social activities.
  • Administrative volunteering: Assisting our hospice team with office projects, organizing materials, preparing items for patients or facilities, and other behind-the-scenes needs.
  • Special skills/talents: Students can also use their individual talents—music, art, photography, pet therapy (when applicable), or other interests—to bring joy and connection to our patients.
  • Community/service projects: We occasionally have opportunities for students to assist with community events, donation drives, and other group volunteer projects.
