2v2 Super Smash Brothers Ultimate Tournament Rules
This tournament is for FUN! Although we have rules listed below, they are subject to change based on the audience and event. The goal always is to enjoy gaming together!
General Rules

Game Version: The tournament will use the latest version of Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.

Teams: Each match will consist of two teams, each with two players (2v2). One alternate or substitute player can be registered for each team.

Equipment: Players may use any officially supported controller. Wired controllers will be available at the event. Modded controllers or software that give players an unfair advantage are prohibited.
Match Settings

Stock: 3 stocks per player.

Time Limit: 8 minutes per match.

Stage Selection:

The first stage will be decided through stage striking.

Each team will take turns striking stages from the starter list until one remains.

Subsequent stages will be chosen by the losing team of the previous match.

Stage Hazards: Off.

Items: Off.

Team Attack: Off.

Pause: Off during tournament matches.

Character Selection

Blind Pick: For the first match of the set, both teams must select their characters without knowing the other team's choice.

Counterpicking: After the first match, the winning team must announce their character choices first, followed by the losing team.
Set Procedure

Set Length: Best of 3 matches.

Grand Finals and Winner's Finals: Best of 5 matches.

Tiebreaker: If the time runs out, the team with the most stocks left wins. If stocks are tied, the team with the lower total damage wins.
Conduct

Respect: Players must maintain a respectful and sportsmanlike conduct at all times.

Coaching: No coaching is allowed during matches.

Disputes: Any disputes must be brought to the attention of the tournament organizer immediately. The organizer's decision is final.
Additional Rules

Double Blind Character Selection: If requested, a double blind character selection will be enforced.

Stage Clause: A stage cannot be chosen more than once in a set by a team.

Stage Bans: After each match, the winning team can ban two stages from the stage list.

Self-Destruct Moves: If a match ends with a self-destruct move, the results screen will determine the winner.
Reporting

Match Reporting: Winners must report their match results to the tournament organizer immediately after the match concludes.
